We know how eager you are to fortify your bike seat, and we also know that selecting the right size Payback seat clamp and saddle bolt can seem daunting. Don't worry, we're here to help.
STEP 1: Do you have a binder bolt?
If your seat tube looks like this (it has no removable seat post collar), you need a binder bolt. Skip to Step 4.
STEP 2: Remove your seat clamp
If you have a quick release, you are probably done already. If not, find the right sized hex wrench (likely 4mm or 5mm) and loosen it up. Remove your seat post, loosen the clamp a little more, and wiggle it free.
STEP 3: Measure your seat tube
Be sure to measure the OUTER DIAMETER of the seat tube. We use calipers to get the most accurate reading in millimeters, but it is perfectly fine to use a ruler or a measuring tape.
STEP 4: Remove and measure your saddle bolt
The saddle bolt is what attaches your seat to your seat post. Some posts have two bolts, others have just one. Remove the bolt(s) and measure the diameter of the threads as shown. You can use a ruler or a measuring tape as well for this step, just make sure to double check your measurement. The number you get in millimeters corresponds to the name of the bolt, just round off to the nearest integer. If you're right in the middle, measure again.
8mm = M8
6mm = M6
5mm = M5
Now that you have your measurements, you're good to go. If you are still unsure of your sizing, you will find a more in depth explanation in the video at the bottom of the page, or you can select "Not Sure" in the drop downs on the product page and we will reach out after your order has been placed.
